Newly Processed Photograph Collections

Processing has been completed on two photograph collections. The George Rothrock collection contains stereocards and cabinet cards from the 1870's - 1890's. The James McClintock collection includes 800 photos dating from the 1860's to the 1930's.

A number of moving images from the Personal and Political Papers of Senator Barry Goldwater have been converted to DVD. Includes all his 1964 campaign ads, several key speeches and rare film footage of his “Shooting the Rapids” down the Colorado River. The film conversion is a work in progress. There are nearly 400 scrapbooks and albums in the Personal and Political Papers of Senator Barry Goldwater. The news paper clippings scrapbooks (1939-1964) have been digitized to CDs. Ideal for distance researchers looking for a ready reference of news coverage related to Goldwater’s career. Each CD comes with a search feature that eliminates viewing frame by frame. Little print material remains of Senator Barry Goldwater’s early career. However, 480 rolls of microfilm dating from 1952 -1964 have been digitized to CDs. Primarily includes correspondence. Poston Film, Price: $60
Rare color film footage of the construction of the Japanese-American relocation camp in Poston, Arizona - largest of all the WWII camps with 17,814 internees. Built by Del Webb and a crew of 5,000 in less than 120 days. Documents construction from the first aerial surveys to the first arrivals from detention centers in New Mexico and California. Includes some footage of camp life. Found in the Wade Head Collection (FM MS 118). Wade Head was the Poston administrator. Clear, crisp images but no sound track. Runs 25 minutes.
