in Ashland, Kentucky January 29, 1907. Moved to Phoenix, Arizona
in October 1907. Attended the University of Arizona. Graduated
from Stanford University. Businessman involved in petroleum
and equipment distribution in the Southwest and Mexico. Governor
of Arizona in 1958-1962. Elected to the United States Senate
in 1964 and served until 1977. Served on Interior and Insular
Affairs, Labor and Public Welfare, Post Office and Civil Service,
Navajo-Hopi Indian Administration, Aging, Finance, Budget
Committees and various subcommittees.
