Newly Processed Photograph Collections

Processing has been completed on two photograph collections. The George Rothrock collection contains stereocards and cabinet cards from the 1870's - 1890's. The James McClintock collection includes 800 photos dating from the 1860's to the 1930's.

Manuscript Collections

Wade Head Collection-MSS 118
This collection includes correspondence, notes, speeches, and essays relating to the War Relocation Authority (WRA) camps in general and specifically to the one in Poston, AZ. Wade Head was the director of the Colorado River War Relocation Center (known as Poston) from 1942-1944. Of interest in the collection is original artwork by the internees and a movie about the construction of the camp.


Frances and Mary Montgomery Collection-MSS 7
Frances and Mary Montgomery were teachers at Butte High School located at the Gila River Relocation Center. This collection includes correspondence with former students, class information, and newspaper articles.

The photography collection includes 109 photographs including buildings at the Poston Relocation Center, events, school life, and construction of the facility.

Frances and Mary Montgomery Photograph Collection-FP MONT 1-235
This collection includes 235 photographs of buildings, school activities, and functions at the Gila River Relocation Center.
